I’m starting to work on things for Thanksgiving…I know it’s still October…but…when you have a large family…you need to start planning in advance, so everyone else can prepare as well. Over the past couple years my honey and I have hosted Thanksgiving at our home…and we’ll be doing it again this year. I make the main things and everyone brings a side dish. I make invites, and inside I write in what each person is to bring.
I’ve already started planning out the invites for this year. I found a very cool digi stamp from Mo’s Digital Pencil…three beautifully drawn pumpkins. I was able to get 4 images on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. I printed out the images on 90lb watercolor paper…I wanted the images to have a little texture when colored. I colored them using Prismacolor pencils and used a technique I’ve been wanting to try for years…blending with Gamsol. I was unable to find Gamsol locally when I was originally looking for it, but found odorless mineral spirits at my local craft store…it worked perfectly.
Here are the 8 images I colored…the first one I was a little heavy handed on the coloring…the one below, I used less pencil and the one on the top right was even less. I may add a little more orange to the lighter ones…but I’ll see how they look on the layered backgrounds before deciding.

So what do you think? Not too bad for my first try at this technique don’t you think? My next post will be showing them all cut out…I’m thinking Nestabilities might be the way to go on these.
Thanks for stopping by!
