I made this bookmark for the JustRite Friday Challenge #23. I have been seeing these corner bookmarks a lot lately and have wanted to give it a go…so what better opportunity!
I cut two triangular pieces of cardstock, layered on some DP and stitched the whole thing together. When putting the bookmark on my pages I wanted it to stick out a little so that when the book is closed, I could easily find my page by holding on to the bookmark and flipping it open. By stitching it together, I was able to accomplish this as it gave a bit of a lip on the edge. I then cut a slit in the top and threaded my twill ribbon through. I took a piece of jute twine wrapped it around the twill ribbon a couple of times then threaded a button through and knotted.
For the focal image…I stamped it using Walnut Stain distress ink onto the back side of my DP, which is a lovely shade of green. The border and letters for the monogram are all from Justrite. I then used three layers of UTEE and stuck it in the freezer to “chill”. When it was ready I cracked it and added more Walnut Stain ink to get the cracked glass effect. The back layer is a cream colored cardstock. I roughed up the edges and inked with Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain distress inks.

So what do you think?
